This portfolio explores my first interest in art- the ego of the figure & self. My introduction to art was through the religious statuary that my family made to sell at flea markets. White plaster reproductions of anonymous faces taking identities as deities was impressionable. These works are a constant pursuit of skill and draftsmanship while exploring figures & flowers in open space, remnants of the whiteness of those plaster sculptures.
Due to COVID live figure groups closed to the public. Some remained indefinitely closed while others were able to shift to a virtual setting, via Zoom. Similarly, the exhibit opportunities in markets and galleries went to an online setting as well- therefore I found myself in an opportunity to create work with the purpose of solely virtual exhibition. These works were created through Procreate, simulating the drawing pen/pencils I would use before.
